Eastern Fisheries was founded in 1978 by Roy Enoksen (at right) and Frank O'Hara. At the time, Mr. Enoksen and Mr. O'Hara were scallop boat owners, both looking for greater control over the marketing of the scallops they harvested from the North Atlantic. Opening a processing facility was the logical next step and Eastern Fisheries was formed as a joint venture between these like-minded seafood industry veterans. Mr. Enoksen and Mr. O'Hara remain partners and co-owners of Eastern Fisheries to this day.
In the early days, Eastern operated as a processor of fresh scallops which were sold to seafood distributors in the Northeastern U.S. As the company's reputation for quality and integrity grew, so did Eastern's business. Within a few years, Eastern was servicing customers throughout the United States.
A new opportunity for growth presented itself in the mid-1980's, when Eastern decided to offer frozen scallops. The processing plant was given an upgrade with the installation of new plate freezing equipment. The company soon became a leader in the production of frozen scallops for the U.S. market.
In recent years Eastern has grown further by adding state of the art equipment and introducing our own "Eastern Brand" frozen scallops. With ongoing production improvements, Eastern is now the largest scallop company in the world.
