Red Ship Brand Now a Trademark of Eastern Fisheries, Inc.
October 05 - Eastern Fisheries, Inc. the world's largest scallop company, has been granted the trademark for Red Ship Brand in Hong Kong and has pending trademark applications in China and the United States. Red Ship Brand is the brand name used primarily for frozen scallops processed in the U.S. and exported to China. Before Eastern applied for trademark rights to the brand name, many scallop processors packed product under the Red Ship Brand name. In the Hong Kong market, only Eastern Fisheries has the right to sell under the Red Ship Brand name. Upon receiving final approval in the United States and China, Eastern will have exclusive rights to the name in these markets as well. Eastern is currently notifying packaging suppliers that they can no longer produce Red Ship Brand boxes for companies other than Eastern Fisheries.
