Eastern Fisheries Adds 24th Scallop Vessel
Eastern’s fleet, the largest in the industry, continues to grow.
Eastern Fisheries Inc. today announced the addition of the Maelstrom to its line of fishing vessels bringing the total number of boats to 24, the industry’s largest fleet.
In addition to the 95’ long Maelstrom, Eastern Fisheries has invested in four brand new boats to replace older vessels in the fleet.
“It’s always nice to add new boats to the fleet. These four new vessels, coming up from Duckworth Shipbuilders in Florida, will use a more fuel-efficient engine. The more efficiently we can run each area of our business, from harvest to distribution, the more value we pass along to our customers,” said Eastern Vice President, Ronald Enoksen. The first two new boats, the ROST and the PYXIS are scheduled to be in New Bedford by the summer.
