American Scallop Association Participates In 43rd Annual NOAA Fish Fry

May 2018 – As a member of the American Scallop Association (ASA) Eastern Fisheries will participate in the 43rd annual NOAA Fish Fry event along with other ASA members on Wednesday, June 6 in Washington, D.C.

This year’s event will bring more than 1,500 people to the U.S. Department of Commerce Courtyard. The annual Fish Fry event, organized by NOAA, provides an opportunity for seafood suppliers to bring awareness to their local, sustainable fisheries.

“Last year’s sold out event gave us the opportunity to meet scientists, government officials, congressional members and seafood industry participants from across the nation and to showcase the Atlantic Sea Scallop fishery, we look forward to that opportunity again.  We realize the importance of events like this in helping to support sustainable fisheries and to promote our local, wild caught resources. And we are excited and honored to cook and serve our wild caught North Atlantic Sea Scallops in the nation’s capitol,” said John Whiteside.

In attendance this year will be: Ross Paasche, John Whiteside and Brittany Bushee from the American Scallop Association; Joe Furtado, Paul Joly and Chef George Karousos from Eastern Fisheries; Barbara Cournoyer from Marder Trawling, and Steve Zevitas from Atlantic Capes Fisheries.
